Participants are encouraged to register now to avoid missing the participation cut. In addition, if you signup by February 15 you will ensure your first name on your race bib.
Due to the increased popularity of the event, a registration participation cap has been reinstituted again this year for the endurance races (marathon, half marathon and marathon relay). The race maximum has been set at 15,000 total endurance participants. The half marathon race, which is the organization’s most popular event, has grown to one of the largest in the U.S., with close to 10,000 registrants last year. Last year more than 18,000 participants competed in the two-day event, making it the largest field in the event’s eight-year history. Make a commitment today and sign-up!

2008 Champions Set to Return to Defend Titles
The 2009 GO! St. Louis Family Fitness Weekend’s endurance races are shaping up to be some of the most competitive in the history of the nine-year event. Two-time champions Karl Gilpin and Mathew Chesang have confirmed their participation in the field, while last year’s women’s half marathon champ Kelly Handel (Williamson) will also be returning. St. Louis Rams Player Josh Brown Visits Area Middle School
The students at Langston Middle School received a special surprise when St. Louis Rams kicker Josh Brown visited their school and joined them in training for the GO! St. Louis Read, Right & Run Marathon. Langston Middle is one of 68 Saint Louis Public Schools (SLPS) participating in the innovative youth program and was singled out for their outstanding commitment to getting more than 150 students and administrators involved in becoming physically fit, making reading part of their lives and doing good deeds. Josh recognized the students for their work and challenged them to continue their efforts, which will help them ultimately achieve their goals. Josh was joined by physical education teacher Leonard Hughes, principal Rose Mary Johnson, SLPS physical education supervisor Leanne White, SLPS special administrative board CEO, Rick Sullivan and Centene representative and the program’s presenting sponsor, Mary Deverman in honoring the students. The Read, Right & Run Marathon is sponsored by Centene and underwritten by the St. Louis Rams and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

Area Employees Celebrate Mile-by-Mile Marathon Achievement
Three area organizations – Booksource, St. Louis Housing Authority and City of St. Louis recently completed the popular six-week GO! St. Louis Mile-by-Mile Marathon program.  The Mile-by-Mile Marathon program is a corporate wellness initiative that encourages employees to get fit by walking or running one mile at a time over a six week period, to complete a 26.2 mile marathon. The program helps to motivate and engage employees to make fitness and nutrition part of their lives. Depending on a company’s goals, we can create a specialized program that includes additional fitness activities or appearances from members of the GO! St. Louis faculty, which is comprised some of the area’s top fitness and nutrition experts.  If you or your company would like more information on the Mile-by-Mile program, CLICK HERE or call 314-727-0800.
