Hip Hop Artist & Curator Mvstermind Signs as Pacesetter for Greater St. Louis Marathon Afterparty

It’s a party that could only happen in St. Louis, created as part of an event that celebrates all things St. Louis, led by a local artist who knows how to showcase the exceptionally talented people who call the 314 their home.

On April 27, the Greater St. Louis Marathon will draw 12,000+ runners into downtown to enjoy
a course that highlights regional treasures like Ballpark Village, the Gateway Arch, beautiful
neighborhoods steeped in history, and world-class educational institutions. Organizers, which
include Greater St. Louis, Inc., plan to capitalize on the positive energy and large crowd by
throwing an afterparty worthy of the Gateway to the Best.

Enter Muhammad “Mvstermind” Austin, a local hip hop artist, community leader, and curator. His
latest title is Pacesetter for the Greater St. Louis Marathon’s Afterparty.

“We’ve chosen Mvstermind as our afterparty’s Pacesetter because he has the taste, knowledge,
and connections to create an event that will keep runners’ hearts racing long after they’ve
crossed the finish line,” said Mona Vespa, president of GO! St. Louis. “Runners are naturally
positive, imaginative, self-sufficient, and energetic people. Mvstermind is curating a concert
lineup that matches that spirit with the most exciting musicians in our city.”

Mvstermind also served as Director of Musical Experience at St. Louis CITY SC, creating the
musical philosophy for CITY and introducing St. Louis standout artists to a global audience. He
has performed at South by Southwest (SXSW), A3C, and LouFest, and shared stages with
Chance the Rapper, Lupe Fiasco, Travis Scott, and Busta Rhymes. He also runs The Gem, an
arts incubator in South St. Louis City that provides space, tools, opportunities, and resources to
artists.

He’s also the creator of “Mvstercamp,” a music enrichment platform with an annual bootcamp
that provides space, tools, opportunities, and resources to up-and-coming artists. The program
has successfully incubated over 90 performance Artists through the six-day bootcamp
“I’ve chosen ‘MOtion’ as the Marathon’s afterparty theme, building a distinctive identity as a
dynamic celebration of music, movement, and the spirit of St. Louis,” said Mvstermind. “Plus, I
couldn’t miss an opportunity to lean into Missouri’s state abbreviation.”

The MOtion afterparty will take place near the Marathon’s finish line at CITYPARK, where the
music will be complimented by St. Louis’ favorite food and beverage vendors. The lineup will
feature an eclectic mix of genres and performances, including:

  • Mvstermind – rap artist / producer that fuses elements of soul, electronica, trap and more
  • Whitworth – Indie pop project
  • Starwolf – Offering a vapor-pop danceathon experience
  • James Líôn – Artist/producer/songwriter/engineer known for motivational storytelling; Mvstercamp alumnus
  • Che Sanchez – Alternative Hip-Hop and R&B Artist; Mvstercamp alumnus
  • Stazi – A girl’s girl party DJ and certified marathon runner

I see this as an opportunity to elevate St. Louis, not only as a premiere running and race destination, but also as a place that inspires the best music.

destination, but also as a place that inspires the best music,” said Mvstermind. “I’m honored to

bumping the entire day.”
