The GO! St. Louis Marathon, formerly the Spirit of St. Louis Marathon debuted in October 2000. It was changed from an October race to an April race in 2003.

The GO! St. Louis Marathon has been recognized as a great race for experienced or first-time competitors, who are looking for an event that provides an abundance of participant services and amenities. Additionally, crowd support along the course and helpful volunteers, make this event one of the highest quality marathon races in the Midwest. Each year thousands of people participate, not only from the St. Louis region, but from numerous other states and countries.

The marathon course starts and finishes at the historic St. Louis Riverfront. As you begin the race, participants head North with the impressive Gateway Arch as a backdrop. Runners will loop around Downtown, traverse the Mississippi River over two iconic bridges, the Eads and Martin Luther King Bridge. Runners will then run along the St. Louis Riverfront, beneath the Arch Grounds. The marathon course includes views of Downtown St. Louis, Forest Park (larger than New York’s Central Park), Lafayette Park, Tower Grove Park, Anheuser-Busch and the historic Soulard Neighborhood.

Age Minimum Requirement

The minimum age for the Marathon is 18 years old, and is strictly enforced.

Time Limit Rules

The marathon course route re-opens to traffic at a rolling schedule according to a 6.5-hour marathon pace or (14:52 minutes per mile). The time limit rules will be strictly enforced. There will be a pace leader leading a 6 hour 30 minute marathon pace or 3 hour 15 minute half marathon pace (14:52 minutes per mile). The time limit will begin when the 6:30 marathon pace group crosses the start line after the start of the race.

Any Marathon or Marathon Relay participant who falls behind the pace (behind the 6:30 pace group) prior to the Half Marathon turn to the finish at Chouteau and Jefferson will be required to finish with the Half Marathon. Any marathoner, who turns at the half marathon split and completes the half marathon, will receive finish line amenities (food, water, medical assistance if needed). After the half marathon turn to the finish, course support (police, course monitors, and water stations) will not be available to marathoners or marathon relay teams who fall behind the 14:52 minute per mile pace. Anyone who falls behind the pace must get in the sag wagon and will be transported to the finish line, or move to the sidewalk and obey all traffic signals. Those finishing behind the 6.5 hour pace are not guaranteed a finish time and may not be listed in the results. Marathoners who only complete the Half Marathon will not be eligible for overall or age group awards. For a more detailed list of rules and regulations, please call 314-727-0800.

Marathon Awards:
Official clock will determine overall winners and masters winners. Age group awards will be determined by Chronotrack b-tag results. Age group awards are five deep, male and female, in these age categories: 19 & under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+.
