The marathon relay race is held each April as part of the Family Fitness Weekend. Relay teams are comprised of four members, running or walking approximatelysix miles each, to complete a full 26.2 marathon. The marathon relay race continues to increase in popularity each year with close to 300 teams participating in 2008. The race is especially appealing to family, friends, co-workers and organizations that join together to compete as one. Marathon Relay divisions include: women, men, co-ed corporate and co-ed family & friends and the Battle of the Badges competition between area police and firefighters.

The marathon relay race is also a great way for newcomers to endurance competition to get started, while enjoying the team aspect. Participants who have completed their relay leg of the course, all join the final team member near the finish line so they can cross the line together.

Relay Details:
A team will consist of 4 members: The first team participant will run approximately 6.5 miles. The second – 6.5 miles. The third – 6.75 miles and the final participant will run 6.45 miles.

Marathon Relay Station Locations:

• # 1 South side of Market Street at 14th Street
  (for the exchange between runner #1 and runner #2)
• # 2 Forest Park, just past the History Museum
  on Lagoon Drive
  (for the exchange between runner #2 and runner #3)
• # 3 Delmar Loop, south side of Delmar at Rosedale Ave
  (for the exchange between runner #3 and runner #4)
• # 4 South side of Market Street and 14th Street
  (runners #1, #2, #3 gather to meet runner #4 and cross the finish line together)

We strongly urge relay participants to use MetroLink to transfer to relay stations. MetroLink operates every 10 minutes. Total travel time from downtown to relay stations #2 and #3 is approximately 35-40 minutes. Please add enough time to get to your relay station with 15 minutes to spare.
