GO! St. Louis is an organization that promotes and practices green-friendly living. We believe a healthy body works in parallel with a healthy planet, so we strive to provide programs and events that are green-friendly. Every April close to 50,000 participants, volunteers and spectators take part in the Family Fitness Weekend, which means a great deal of waste is generated. GO! recycled more than 18,000 plastic water bottles and thousands of pounds of cardboard at last year’s event. In addition, more than 200,000 bio-degradable cups were utilized and earth-friendly chemicals were used in the more than 270 restroom facilities. Because of our green efforts, Runner’s World Magazine, in partnership with Nature’s Path, listed the GO! St. Louis Family Fitness Weekend as a member of its Green Team.
