Program Has Generated Close to Two Million Dollars in Six Years
ST. LOUIS (MO) – June 8, 2015 – GO! St. Louis, a local non-profit organization that specializes in providing fitness events and programs for the region on a year-round basis, announced today that the GO! for a Cause charity program helped 26 area charities raise $350,000 for their causes as part of the 15th Annual GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend.

In a special ceremony on May 11, eight local high school seniors who participated in the 2015 GO! St. Louis Students on the GO! program were awarded Scholar Athlete awards and a $1,000 scholarship to be used in post-graduate studies. These students not only completed the Students the GO! program this year, but they were required to submit an application detailing their educational accomplishments and community service to receive the college scholarships. A special committee selected the winners among numerous student applications.

It was a special night for 2015 GO! St. Louis marathon winner Andrea Karl, who was invited to re-enact her finish at the St. Louis Cardinals game on Sunday, April 19 at Busch Stadium. Karl started running from the outfield warning track, crossed home plate and broke the finish line tape, where she was greeted by Olympic Gold Medalist Jackie Joyner Kersee and Mercy Regional President Donn Sorensen.

Finishing third was local athlete Walker Yane, posting a time of 2:37:28. On the women’s side, Andrea Karl, St. Louis, MO crossed the line first with a time of 2:54:29.
